Finding a Winter Paradise in Collingwood

Venturing up north in the winter is one of my favourite road trips. Being surrounded by all the snow in a winter paradise is bliss. It’s about a two-hour drive from Toronto to Collingwood making it the perfect weekend holiday. For the past couple of winters, we’ve driven up here to get away from the city and enjoy time together. Whether it’s early morning skiing, hiking down by the waterfalls, or family dinners by the fireplace, we always have a great time! I seriously love coming up here to experience a true winter holiday!

There’s always something to do in Collingwood adventure-worthy! Since the landscape is so diverse there are endless options all around. If you’re into winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding then Collingwood has got you covered. Blue Mountain Resort is the most popular attraction to ski at since it is a public facility. There’s always tons of private ski clubs such as Osler Bluffs, Toronto Ski Club, or Alpine. Snowshoeing through the caves at Metcalfe Rock was one of my most memorable experiences up here. Crawling metres below the surface and up through tiny caves was something I had never thought I would be able to do. I went with Free Spirit Tours with a guide who was able to teach us about caving and the history of the area.

Winter Paradise Found

To be more in touch with nature head out of Collingwood and venture through the mountains and past the ski hills. Explore some of the waterfalls like Hoggs, Eugenia, and Walters. Or head down to the lake and stroll one of the many scenic trails. For panoramic views of the city check out the Blue Mountain Lookout point which gives a bird’s eye view of the Village below and the Georgian Bay. There’s no shortage of nature in Collingwood.

For some rest and relaxation head over to the Scandinave Spa for a deep tissue massage or take a dip in one of the many world-renowned thermal baths. It’s the perfect way to warm up from the winter cold. I felt fresh and rejuvenated, but also much calmer and at peace. The spa is located in the depths of the forest so it gives you the feel of being thousands of kilometres away from any stress allowing you to truly focus on yourself. If you’re up for another detox I will point you in the direction of Hot Yoga at iwa Spa to unwind.

Collingwood proved to be a paradise of its own. To say this trip was magical is to say the least. The charming mountains and chill vibes are too irresistible. I will definitely be heading back up here next season for more festivities.
