Checking In: Lisbon’s Hub Hostels

For our first few nights in Lisbon, we headed over to Hub Lisbon Patio Hostel for a two-night stay. This is a brand new hostel and only opened Summer 2017, making it only a few months old when we visited. This property is beautiful from inside out. Everyone was fresh and clean which is something important to look for when staying in hostels. What I loved about this hostel was its beautiful common areas and delicious breakfast!

This hostel is close to the train station and is really easy to spot from the road. Its exterior facade matches Lisbon’s vibe and architecture. Inside it is newly renovated with a few quirky charms. We arrived a bit early for check-in but was able to utilize the free locker storage to store our bags and go explore. We asked the staff for some recommendations for vegetarian restaurants and popular tourists spots to discover later. They were so accommodating and friendly every time we asked them something.

Hub Lisbon Patio Hostel

We had a double en-suite room which had air conditioning, a private bathroom, and a view looking the patio below. The room was spacious proving us enough room to relax during the day and enjoy a restful sleep in the evening. This has been one of the nicest hostels I’ve ever stayed in! Our bathroom came with free toiletries such as shampoo and soap, along with towels. Everything was prepared for us which helped us settle in quickly.

The hostel’s outdoor patio is really what makes this place feel like home. From rooftop outdoor hammocks to comfy bean bag chairs, to an outdoor kitchen, the patio is the best place in the hostel to relax and chill. It has such a relaxing atmosphere here we made friends with some other travelers from Canada, France, and Australia. Under an array of plants and sunshine, there’s lots of room to eat and even sun tan. If you wanted a drink you can even order one straight from the hostel bar. I am definitely coming back to Hub Lisbon Patio Hostel next time I’m in Lisbon. Everything about this place was perfect!

Hub New Lisbon Hostel

There is another Hub Hostel located between Balto Alto and Príncipe Real, closer to Lisbon’s core. Hub New Lisbon Hostel is a fun and exciting place. The property is a bit older located in an 18th century building, but has been renovated and has tons of cool features. The vibe here is totally different from Hub New Lisbon Hostel. This hostel is filled with entertainment! Here you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Compete against your friends in table foosball, beerpong, billiards, or gaming (PS3, XBOX), or my personal favourite the ball pit. Take a dive and relax around seventy thousand soft plastic balls in the Ball Pit for an experience like no other. If you can find the hidden rubber ducks within the ball pit you can earn yourself a free beer. This hostel has some of the most amazing window views of the city we’ve ever seen. If you get a chance to stay in a private room where you’ll get a few surprises like an incredible view and a welcome gift.

In love with Hub Hostels

Lisbon is an incredible city and I would definitely visit again. This city has some of the kindest people I’ve ever met, great cuisine, and fantastic panoramas. Do not hesitate a stay at Hub Hostels if you’re planning a trip to Portugal.
