Glamping with Harmony Outdoor Inn

On our recent trip to Parry Sound we decided to spend the night Glamping in the forest with Harmony Outdoor Inn. This is something I’ve been longing to do after seeing countless photos of these rustic outdoor tents with luxurious beds. All we packed was our clothing and food and the rest was set up for us when we arrived. Harmony Outdoor Inn is located close to downtown Parry Sound so it was a breeze to find, just a few streets off the highway. It’s a huge property leaving guests many places to explore and wander. The resort has six tents, three bed and breakfast rooms, and an outdoor food pavilion where guests can cook their own meals.

Tent wise, you can choose between a queen bed or two singles depending on your preference. Each room has a few shelving units, bed side tables, a solar-powered lantern, carpets, and tons of open room. The beds were the best part. So. Comfy. Even though the temperatures can get a bit cold at night we were always warm with the supply of pillows and blankets provided. The lighting in the tent and the walkways around the resort was solar, eco-friendly and very easy to use. I felt as if we were off the grid here with no electricity in the room or flushable toilets but still able to stay comfortable with the warmth and security of a day bed. Luckily, there’s an outdoor deck in front of each tent with two muskoka chairs allowing you to sit back and enjoy the view. The best part!

The outdoor screened pavilion is the where all the bbqs, stoves, fridges and tables are kept. Harmony Outdoor Inn even provides the dishes, cutlery, pots, pans and kitchen utensils which made everything so much easier. It’s the perfect place to sit back, relax and socialize with the other guests. If you’re looking for wi-fi this is currently the only part of the resort that has access.

For the outhouses there’s basically one every few feet so you never have to wander too far in the bush. Everything was kept clean and tidy as the resort is only a couple of years old. Nothing was out-of-place or missing!

The waterfront has an amazing view of the river which is peaceful and tranquil. If you want to relax there’s yoga on the west-facing outdoor deck with classes every day in the morning and evening right by the water. With 16 acres there are lots to see and do.Or if you want to take it easy and have a nap there are numerous hammocks around the shore to chill in. Optionally, the resort has kayak, canoe and SUP lessons and available for rental if you want to explore the water further.

Glamping was definitely different from how I’ve camped before but I loved every second of it. I enjoyed the atmosphere and comfort of “glam” camping as I always knew we were never to far from food, water or protection. I’ll be heading back to Harmony Outdoor Inn as soon as I come back to Parry Sound!
