Nothing beats getting outdoors and experiencing nature like a snowshoeing adventure in Canada’s outback. We took it to the extreme this weekend with Xtreme Hummer Adventures out in Blue Mountain to do some exploring. It was the perfect getaway activity that didn’t involve skiing or snowboarding as we wanted to try something new.
Mark greeted us at Blue Mountain Resort and whisked us away to begin our adventure. We were more than thrilled to ride in a customized H1 Hummer (one of the most capable off-road 4×4 vehicles ever made) up one of the highest elevations in the area. It was my first time in such a vehicle so it made the experience, unlike anything I’ve ever done. I just wish there was more mud for off-roading!
All we had to do was to strap on a pair of snowshoes and next thing you know we were on our way up the escarpment taking in the sites and sounds of nature’s finest trails. There were plenty of breathtaking sites we admired along the way which made the trip really worth it.
We’ve been on a few snowshoeing tours now but the scenery of these trails was what caught our attention. What we enjoyed the most was the view over the whole city- you can spot the Georgian Bay, Wasaga Beach and Collingwood all from the Bruce Trail.
After a few hours learning about the history and nature of the conservation area we headed back down the hill. This time, we took a different path! We travelled across rivers, over bridges, and through forests and ended up with some delicious homemade apple cider.
Thanks to Xtreme Adventures for welcoming My One Big Planet as a guest. As always, all opinions are my own.
