How to Spend a Winter Weekend in Collingwood

Our winter getaway brought us up north to Collingwood, famous for skiing, snowboarding and outdoor activites. We had heard a lot from our family members about Collingwood so we were overly excited to try out some new sports and tours.

Here’s how we spent our weekend and Collingwood and what we recommend:

It’s easy to relax in Collingwood. There are a great number of spas, salons and wellness studios to help you detox and rejuvenate yourself. So, where are the best spas in Collingwood? There are a few options:

Scandinave Spa

The Scandinave Spa is pure bliss. This award-winning spa offers hot pools, Nordic showers and steam rooms following a European tradition of tranquility and relaxation.

iwa Yoga

iwa Spa offers Hot Restorative Yoga on a volcanic stone bed allowing you to loosen up the muscles while getting some healthy exercise in.

Collingwood is packed with tons of snow-fested activities like snowshoeing, caving, skiing, and snowboarding. You’ll find an abundance of winter sports perfect for any age or level.

Free Spirit Tours

Free Spirit Tours offers a combination of snowshoeing with winter caving. Their expert guides outfit and teach you the skills you need to take on any of the activities with confidence.

Xtreme Adventures

Xtreme Adventures brings you to the extreme with their Hummer and Snowshoe experience. The trip consists of trekking mountains, crossing rivers and wandering through forests, making it one of the most adventurous tours in the area.

Alpine Ski Club

Skiing and snowboarding are some of Collingwood’s most attractive features. With dozens of slopes, you won’t have any trouble shredding some snow at Alpine Ski Resort.

Blue Mountain Resort

Blue Mountain is known as Ontario’s winter paradise. Travellers flock here to visit this winter haven which offers 36 trails, 2 terrain parks, 1 super pipe, and 14 lifts.

Craigleith Provincial Park

Explore the bay side provincial park and soak in nature’s beauty while hiking, biking or fishing. I love this park because it is so close to the water providing some of the best views in the city.

499 First St, Collingwood, ON L9Y 1B9

Known for their famous wood-fired pizzas and plates of pasta, Pie serves an amazing array of dishes that are too good to pass up.

The Iron Skillet

 20 Balsam St #2, Collingwood, ON L9Y 4H7

For some Southern fare check out The Iron Skillet which serves portions enough for two.

Collingwood is the perfect weekend destination from the Greater Toronto Area as its only a few hours drive away. I know I’ll be coming back every winter to experience the thrill of the slopes and the peace of the Georgian Bay.
